Oh Great Gatsby!!!

Whether School made the book a mandatory SUMMER read or it was listed it in the agenda and supply list for Literature this book has been endeared to hearts and mind of a few of us.

I for one loved the concept of the roaring 20's. An age where new and old money met and often clashed. The book spoke some of obsession, self discover, love, choices and a lot about image and perception.

As i was waiting for a very uninspired reality show Finale to begin. I saw the Trailer for  Baz Luhrmann 's The Great Gatsby. All i can say is Oh my, Gatsby!!!! Being a fan of Luhrmann's work which include Strictly BallroomRomeo + JulietMoulin Rouge!, and AustraliaNow each of these films has had its ups and downs in the eyes of the critics and fans.

Where Strictly Ballroom was a cheeky spoof of the strict rule within the sport of Ballroom Dancing. A sport which has become near and dear to america through shows like Dancing with the Stars (TV series) and So You Think You Can Dance

Romeo + Juliet saw Luhrmann's first match up with a you Leonardo DiCaprio who stole the hearts of young girls across the world. This was a lesson on the ability to bring Shakespeare to the Modern day person without changing his words but only his landscape.

Moulin Rouge was a musical oddessey of love, self discovery, and heartbreak. Which was the first in a team up of films between Nicole Kidman and Baz Luhrmann.

Now Australia was a gem which may not have done well in the box office but caught my attention after the fact.  A story of survival, change and history. Kidman's role leaves memories of Satine in the wind.

And now Luhrmann is taking on The Great Gatsby.

The cast is spot on and i feel that this will not be a remake if the The Great Gatsby (1974).

December is still half a year away but it is awaited.
