British Children's Literature

They have got it right. Their stories last and are remembered by our generation and those whom came before us.

While watching the opening ceremony my son asked me. Who were the other three characters that popped out of re beds.

He is a child of today and he know Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. He gets excited at the thought of a Diary of a Wimpy Kid. But he doesn't recognize the original Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, or Cruella deVille.

Were we recall Mary Poppins who can make Medicine go down with a spoonful of sugar. Our children are only familiar with the movie character Nanny McPhee.

Brava to the British authors for their ability to bring us stories that makes us think as well as feel.
